Njeri Waitimu is the Managing Partner at HMS Africa and a qualified Advocate, certified Governance Auditor, and accredited Sustainable Finance Advisor with over twenty (20) years of experience in legal, governance, regulatory, and strategic advisory practice. She provides legal counsel across a broad spectrum of matters spanning both conventional and Sharia-compliant banking and finance, including digital credit lending and fintechs, diverse corporate and commercial transactions, structuring of complex Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements, regulatory compliance, and public policy. Her work is distinguished by a commercially attuned, solutions-oriented approach that integrates legal precision with strategic foresight in navigating increasingly complex institutional and regulatory environments.

Njeri is also well regarded for her expertise in corporate governance comprising both advisory and audit services, as well as sustainable finance advisory, serving a diverse portfolio of corporate and individual clients. She is recognised for her ability to provide practical, forward-looking counsel that strengthens institutional accountability, supports regulatory integrity, and advances sustainable and commercially viable growth.

Prior to her current role, Njeri served as Head of Legal and Company Secretary within multi-jurisdictional regulated entities, where she played a central role in legal oversight, governance, compliance, and enterprise-wide strategic decision-making. Her distinguished contribution to the legal profession earned her consistent recognition by the prestigious Legal 500, which named her among the most accomplished, influential, and innovative in-house legal professionals in the region through inclusion in the General Counsel (GC) Powerlists East Africa 2024 and 2025.
